Hello from beautiful New England! Last weekend I went tulip picking for my very first time! My boyfriend Cassio and I went to Wicked Tulips Flower Farm in Johnson, Rhode Island. It was such a beautiful day for it too! The sun was shining, our faces were smiling, and our flower basket was overfilled (and tipping over) by the end of our day trip! I was excited to wear my vintage floral at Wicked Tulips.
We decided since it was right before Mother’s Day, that we would pick the tulips for both of our Mothers and Grandmothers. Tulips don’t live very long, but it worked out well in our favor because we went just two days before to pluck these beauties. This year, the farm was only open for probably about three weeks; weather had caused the tulips to misbehave, and thus the season was slightly shorter than it has been in the past. We bought our tickets for the end of week 2, and right after Mother’s Day that weekend they announced they would be closing the farm ASAP. We made it just in time, whew!
Anyway, I could go on all day about the tulips (amateur floral designer at your service here). However, I really wanted to touch base on my vintage outfit that I wore for our lovely day out.
I wore a beautiful 1980’s floral necktie blouse by Alfred Dunner, and tucked it into a light blue, pleated vintage skirt by Da-Rue of California. I paired it with a frilly closed-toe bowed heel by the brand Pulse that I had actually sported for my senior prom, once upon a time. I have to say I felt very flowery that entire day. Floral patterns are very in right now, partially made popular by the Dolce & Gabbana’s latest collections that tie together floral & baroque with loud color palettes and patterns.
Due to the nature of vintage and dated items, I was not able to locate the exact same pieces online. Below, however, you will find similar pieces that are more widely available in 2018! Feel free to browse the links to see if any of them are suitable for you!
A special thank you to Cassio for always being my photographer and taking pictures of me all dressy. 😙
Until next time!
