Chebula Active Immunity Serum Review
The True Botanicals Chebula Active Immunity Serum was a highly anticipated skincare product that recently hit the market. There were no claims that it’s made with magic, but rather close: a never-before-debuted skincare ingredient known as Terminalia Chebula. Chebula, for short, is a plant that is native to the South Asian continent. Recent discoveries show that Chebula possesses radical anti-aging properties. Today I am ready to share my thoughts on this product and whether or not I believe it stands up to its claim.

Ingredients & Benefits
As previously mentioned, Chebula is a plant species native to South Asia. Chebula is an ingredient most known for its use in aiding kidney and liver dysfunctions. [source] However, recent discoveries show that Chebula has powerful and effective anti-aging properties. This bioactive and anti-inflammatory ingredient fights the five signs of aging, resulting in an intense reversal of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin dullness.
Terminalia chebula has a strong history of use in Ayurveda for strengthening and nourishing the body. It only recently was obtained for topical use via an innovative and safe water-based extraction process. – True Botanicals
The Chebula Active Immunity Serum contains other powerful ingredients aside from Chebula. This serum is also 100% vegan. Read below to learn more about each ingredient:
Ingredient definitions extracted from the True Botanicals website.
Chebula stimulates collagen production and boosts filaggrin for smoother, strong skin. Helps to regulate pigmentation, minimize inflammation and maintain hydration, as well as reduce blue light and pollution stress.
Elderberry helps eliminate toxins and is abundant in Vitamin A, C, and E. It has a well documented history of restoring health and aiding in longevity.
Ginger further enhances blood circulation, encouraging healthy and glowing skin.
Echinacea includes immune boosting polysaccharides that help with wound healing and cellular regeneration.
Hyaluronic Acid present in the Chebula Active Immunity Serum uses an optimal concentration of low and high weighted Hyaluronic molecules. Smaller sized molecules absorb into the skin to deliver plumping hydration that minimize the look of wrinkles. Larger molecules remain on the surface to deliver intensive moisture that smooths and softens skin texture.
Now that we’ve got all the logistics and science out of the way, it’s time to get to the review and my results. I have been using this product every night for 2 weeks prior to writing this review. Below you will find two sets of photos showing some of my results. These images were taken just 4 days apart. A 30 days before & after comparison will be uploaded in April 2021.
Does it Work?
I’ll give it to you straight – yes – it does work. Over the past year, I have tried a plethora of cruelty-free anti-aging skincare products. Some of them have worked phenomenally, while others have fallen quite flat. I’ve been experimenting with various brands, ingredients, and types of products. So far, serums take the lead, and the Chebula Active Immunity Serum has been my number one serum I have in my collection so far.
I am in my late twenties, which means that fine lines are starting to become more noticeable over time. Therefore, one of my primary goals in skincare is to target those fine lines and reverse the beginning signs of aging. Not only that, but acne is largely a concern for me as well. These are the areas I targeted with the Chebula Active Immunity Serum and my results:
My biggest concern when it comes to aging skin is the delicate skin around my eyes. This includes the outer edges of my under-eye where crow’s feet form. Out of all areas I targeted, I found that I had the most visible results in this area. I began to notice the creases filling out and my skin appeared more youthful, hydrated, & plump.
I was also experiencing redness and flakey skin on my eyelids and inner corners. Therefore, I decided to apply the serum to these areas. I was really pleased to see that it eliminated all flakiness and most of my redness as well. In the end, it came as no surprise. This is because Chebula helps to regulate pigmentation, minimize inflammation, and hydrate the skin.

Skin dry, red, and flakey. Visible wrinkles, especially seen under the right eye.
4 days later: hydrated without flakes. Less redness. Under-eye wrinkles plumped.
My next area of concern is my forehead. I have this one particularly pesky crease the runs across the upper middle part of my forehead. I saw progress in this area too, although I believe I will need another month’s time to see further results. I’m rather convinced that this crease would improve if I drank as much water as I should, but that’s a topic for another day. If I see more results, I’ll be sure to update my progress in this area.
In terms of fine lines, I’m a firm believer that laugh lines aren’t a bad thing. To be honest, aging skin really isn’t either – it’s simply a natural part of life. Nonetheless, if you have laugh lines you’d like to target, the Chebula Active Immunity Serum can do that too. While I’ll admit the photos below do not do the product justice, there is a visible difference in my laugh lines.

A defined laugh line crease.
4 days later: the laugh line crease has become more faint.
I also like to massage this serum over my acne spots which primarily appear along my chin and jawline. I learned through this product that the ingredient Echinacea is both antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory, making it a powerful ingredient for acne. Antimicrobial ingredients such as Echinacea help prevent the spread of bacteria and the growth of acne. It also soothes the skin of irritation caused by sebum peaking through to the upper layers of skin. I have found that my acne is clearing up, partly thanks to another True Botanicals product.
Occasionally, I like to apply the Chebula serum all over my face for a boost of hydration. Hyaluronic Acid, an ingredient included in the formula, provides ample hydration while firming and plumping the skin. I tend to only do this once per week in order to save more product for the areas where I need it the most. However, if I had an endless supply, I would honestly do it every single night because my skin looks and feels amazing.
How to Pair Chebula Active Immunity Serum
I have other True Botanicals staples in my skincare collection that I adore. True Botanicals products work more effectively when used together. These are the other products I frequently pair with the Chebula Active Immunity Serum.
I like to start my nightly skincare routine with a double cleanse. For my water-based cleanser, I often reach for the Nourishing Cleanser by True Botanicals. This cleanser comes in two versions: Clear (best for oily/combination/acne-prone skin) & Renew (best for aging, fine lines, & wrinkles). I personally use the Clear version to combat my acne. I have a variety of cleansers in my skincare collection. Therefore, I like to rotate every few weeks. While I don’t always use this cleanser, I find that the serum works best when I do.
Pure Radiance Oil
If there’s one product I use every night with my serum, it’s the Pure Radiance Oil. I use the Clear version to prevent & eliminate acne. Before applying this oil, I always apply the Chebula Active Immunity Serum first. In order for products to penetrate more deeply, you should always apply lighter products first. Oil tends to be heavier than serums, therefore, you should always apply the serum first. Furthermore, oil products are known as occlusives. This means that oil locks in moisture, which allows the serum to perform at its highest level.
The Chebula Active Immunity Serum is priced at a cool $90 for 1 fl oz. While the price exceeds that of a drugstore brand, the quality and results speak for themselves. With that said, it’s not necessary to use a ton of this product at one time. Small drops onto the back of your hand will help you properly gauge how much product you are actually using. I use less than half a dropper to target all the areas that I need to.
Is It Worth The Investment?
The Chebula Active Immunity Serum has been a wonderful product to add to my nightly skincare routine. It has quickly become a product that I won’t go without. In fact, I’ve actually cut down on the number of products I use each night. This serum a multi-functional product. I have seen an improvement in my fine lines, acne, redness, and dry skin. Before using this product, I was reaching for three additional products to target these issues. While I’m certain I haven’t abandoned all of my other skincare for good (hey, I have way too much of it), I feel confident that this serum has served its purpose effectively in my skincare routine.
