Best Skincare Fridges for 2021
It’s likely you’ve heard of skincare fridges. The idea has been bouncing around your brain for a while, and now it’s time to make a decision: do you need a skincare fridge? All of your friends have one and swear by it, but maybe you’re a bit on the fence. Not to worry, as today on Mind Over Mango we’re discussing everything you’ve ever wanted to know about skincare fridges. We’ll chat about the benefits, what products you can (and can’t) put in them, and the best skincare fridges on the market in 2021. If you don’t care about anything except getting your hands on your dream skincare fridge ASAP, simply skip to the list now.
Is a Beauty Fridge Necessary?
Short answer – no. Skincare fridges are not necessary. To be quite frank about it, there’s no actual proof that cold skincare products are better for your skin. Companies develop products so that they work in typical room temperature settings. You’ll be hardpressed to find products that were specifically designed in the cold, for the cold. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that your products were not made to be chilled, nor is it necessary to do so.
Are There Any Benfits to Cold Skincare?
A less short answer – it’s complicated. While there may be some benefits, they aren’t so substantial that it would be life-altering to your skincare routine. It’s okay, calm down. Before you start fretting, let’s dissect three major benefits that are often said about chilled skincare:
Benefit 1: Cold Skincare Products Perform Better
Skincare fridge companies often claim that skincare products perform better when they’re cold. Truth be told, there is no legitimate proof behind these claims. Again, skincare products are typically not designed to be placed in a fridge. Therefore, cold skincare does not perform any better than skincare that is stored at room temperature.
Benefit 2: Cold Skincare Helps Soothe & Depuff
One benefit often touted is that cold skincare helps to soothe & depuff irritated skin. While the results may not be long-lasting, the cooling sensation feels nice and refreshing on irritated, puffy, or swollen skin. So yes, this is a real benefit.
Benefit 3: Cold Skincare Can Last Past Expiration
It can be argued that placing your skincare products in the fridge will allow them to last past their expiration date. This statement holds some level of validity and may true. With that said, if you are looking to keep your products lasting longer, this indicates that you may be overbuying based on your skin’s actual needs. If you are unable to use up all of your products before the expiration date, you may want to consider purchasing less product overall. I know – super impractical, but something to consider.
Is a Beauty Fridge Worth It?
After all these cold hard facts (pun intended), you may be wondering: is a skincare fridge even worth it? Well, that all depends on what you want to get out of your skincare routine. If you like the idea of having chilled skincare products that leave your skin feeling a bit more refreshed, then yes – a skincare fridge is totally worth it. Skincare fridges are also a great storage solution. Plus, they’re really cute to have on your vanity or in your bathroom.
Despite the somewhat disappointing facts about cold skincare, it didn’t deter me from wanting a fridge myself. If you’re in the market to pamper yourself every day & night, then a skincare fridge is right for you. The only thing you need to do now is to decide which fridge will house your skincare collection. Before diving in, let’s quickly discuss the Do’s and Don’ts of which products belong in your skincare fridge.
What Do You Put in a Skincare Fridge?
Not every product you own should be placed in your skincare fridge. Certain types of ingredients and formulas should never be chilled. In some situations, certain products may be able to work in a cooler setting but require research (read that ingredient list!), and some careful experimentation. Check the list below for which products can and can’t be placed in your mini fridge:
One of the best products to place in your skincare fridge are toners and face mists. Due to the nature of these products, having them at a cold temperature makes them feel even better.
Eye creams are another product worth placing in your skincare fridge. A cold cream may help temporarily reduce puffy or swollen under eyes. Plus, it just feels amazing .
Facial moisturizers are a great item to chill in your skincare fridge.
Sheet masks are perfectly fine to place in the fridge.
One of my favorite items to store in my skincare fridge are makeup removing balms. Balm formulas melt into the skin like butter, and the extra melty and cooling sensation of it being chilled makes the product arguably more satisfying.
I don’t just have one chilled jade roller: I have three. Many people, like myself, love having a cold jade roller on hand when doing their skincare routine. It feels nice and can even help soothe the skin when you are experiencing an ingredient irritation. Cold jade rollers can also help to depuff while providing lymphatic drainage.
Serums are a product that may or may not be good in your fridge. Thin, oil-free serums typically work well in cooler settings. However, serums that contain oils in them will experience ingredient separation when chilled. Avoid placing thick serums in the fridge, as cold temperatures will only thicken the formulas, making it chunky and more difficult to dispense.
It’s completely unnecessary to place any type of makeup into your skincare fridge. Be that liquid foundation, lipsticks, mascara, or powders, just don’t do it. There are even less benefits to placing makeup in your mini fridge, and it could ultimately ruin the integrity of the products.
Placing face and body oils into your fridge is another big no-no. Some oils will solidify as the cool, making the product unusable. Even if removed and placed again at room temperature, the product may not perform as well as it would have previously.
Mud masks and any other clay-like masks should never be placed in your fridge. These types of products will quickly harden and ruin the product, making them completely unusable.
For some reason, it’s been said that placing your perfumes in a skincare fridge is a great idea. You should only place your perfumes in a cool, dry setting out of direct sunlight. Chilling perfumes could potentially alter the chemical compounds, soiling the scent and defeating the purpose all together.
Body moisturizers are best kept at room temperature. This is because these types of moisturizers tend to be thicker and more dense than facial moisturizers. Cold temperatures condense formulas. Placing thick moisturizers in your fridge may thicken the product too much, making them more diffuclt to use.
Quick Tips for Testing Cold Skincare
Tip 1: Before placing an entire product in the fridge (such as a serum you’re unsure about), put some product in a small container to test it. This will avoid soiling an entire product.
Tip 2: Look for changes in consistency, color, and scent when determining whether or not a product will work well in your beauty fridge. If a product changes in any of these ways, it’s best to keep it out of the fridge.
Tip 3: If products such as your moisturizers and creams have a “whipped” consistency, it’s best to keep them at room temperature. Cold temperatures will condense whipped textures, making them harder and denser. Once chilled, these textures can no longer naturally return to the previous consistency.

This adorable fridge is the best solution for those who like a neat and orderly collection.

Flawless by Finishing Touch is a brand name that may sound familiar to you. After all, they’ve expanded into creating a variety of amazing beauty tools. If you love the kitty fridge aesthetic, then this cute smiley-faced beauty fridge by Smoko is right up your alley. This 10 liter fridge comes with two removable shelves, allowing you to customize your space depending on how tall your products are. It also comes with a handy car adapter, great for road trips when you can’t go without your chilled skincare (or an ice-cold beverage).
Makeup Fridge x Glow Recipe Fridge
It’s likely you’ve heard of Glow Recipe, but have you heard of their collab with Makeup Fridge? If you’re a Glow Recipe superfan, then this mini skincare fridge is meant for you. Although it’s called a “Makeup Fridge”, I suggest keeping your makeup at room temp and storing all of your Glow Recipe skincare (including the 3 products it comes with!) inside instead.
Vanity Planet Skincare Fridge
If you’re a visual person, opt for this mini fridge featuring a clear glass door from Vanity Planet. While it has fewer storage features inside, the ability to see all of your favorite skincare neatly lined up only enhances your vanity’s aesthetic. It comes in two sleek color options: Rose Gold or White. Two removable shelves are also included as well.
Werseon 6 Liter Mini Fridge
If glass doors aren’t your thing, then maybe a mirrored one is. This chic mirrored mini beauty fridge from Amazon also features an LED light that traces the perimeter of the door. Use this clever door as your vanity mirror while you apply your skincare or makeup. The dimmable LED is also touch-activated, allowing you to adjust the brightness settings.
Koolatron Retro Mini Fridge
None of these beauty fridges spark your interest yet? Maybe what you need is a good old-fashioned retro fridge then. This adorable retro mini fridge by Koolatron is the perfect addition to your vintage-inspired vanity or bathroom. This small 4 liter fridge is ideal for those looking to store only a handful of beauty products. It’s also super affordable and comes in three colors: a cool pink, a zappy blue, or jet black.
FaceTory Ice Cream Skincare Fridge
The cuteness overload of our best skincare fridges needs to stop – but not before you meet this ice cream inspired fridge by FaceTory. This fridge comes with one adjustable shelf and one organizing insert, perfect to store your favorite sheet masks. It also features a real-time temperature display and a built-in fridge light. This 5 liter beauty fridge comes in three yummy flavors: strawberry, vanilla, or mint.
Cooluli Infinity Fractal Pink
A personal favorite of mine is the Fractal Pink skincare fridge by none other than – you guessed it – Cooluli. This chic and modern fridge contains 10 liters worth of room inside. It also has three removable shelves: two for the main unit and one that attaches to the inside door. For a Cooluli fridge with a bit more wiggle room, consider the stylish 15 liter version instead.
NXONE Mini Fridge 6 Liters
For those who aren’t about over-the-top looks or features, this 6 liter beauty fridge by NXONE is the best no-frills option. It comes in two basic colors: white or black. This mini fridge also comes with AC & DC adapters, allowing you to plug into a regular outlet or a car outlet for travel. With a solid 4.5 stars and over 650 positive ratings, it’s a winner. It’s also one of the most affordable options too.
Lunchbox Cosmetic Mini Fridge
For a less practical but super unique approach, this mini lunchbox-shaped fridge is sure to get you loads of questions. A conversation piece, this beauty fridge will keep your skincare cool and your vanity space even cooler. It comes in two colors: pink or green. Although it fits only a handful of beauty products, this fridge is arguably the most unique one we’ve ever seen.
If you’re truly committed to the cause, this extra-large 24 liter beauty fridge by Summit might be your new best friend. While the price point is hefty – a whopping $600+, this luxury fridge is built to last. It contains three adjustable storage trays. The bottom tray is the most unique, offering an organized way to display your skincare products. Its temperature-controlled gauge, glass door, and inner LED light make this the most luxe beauty fridge ever.
Cooluli 15 Liter Infinity Fridge
It comes as no surprise that I chose none other than a Cooluli skincare fridge. I opted for this beauty fridge due to it’s size and the fact that it has two huge door bins and two adjustable shelves. The extra door bin was what helped sell this fridge for me, considering most skincare fridges only have one narrow bin. While the first Cooluli fridge I shared was a close contender, I knew that the 20 liters was a tad too large for my vanity.
Best Skincare Fridges
With so many options available today, it can be tough deciding which beauty fridge is right for you. These 15 skincare fridges hopefully have helped you to pinpoint (or at least narrow down) which one is destined to live on your vanity.
