Summer Trend: Color Blocking is Back

Plymouth Rock Massachusetts Vacation Cropped

All I can say is that Color Blocking is back!

So I seem to be in a bit of a “color kick” lately, or more specifically, a “color blocking kick”. I’m currently really loving color combos of pinks and greens, and find that they balance out well together, especially considering the season. I like to keep my outfits seasonally appropriate, not just in actual attire (like shorts, or sweaters) but in colors as well. Let’s just say I’m really excited for summer and hope it never ends! 😍

Today’s outfit of the day is one that I threw together real quick. Cassio and I had planned to go shooting in Downtown Plymouth, Massachusetts, and we decided we would shoot a couple of different outfits since it was such a glorious day outside. 🌞 I knew that I had been wanting to wear this sleeveless blouse from Style & Co. quite badly, so I paired it with my favorite green Adrianna Papell trousers that I purchased recently at TJ Maxx! By the way, I actually found this blouse at a local thrift store near me, and spent a whopping $2.99 on it! It is in perfect condition, and looked as if it had come straight from the store rack! I have a “dupe” below, which is more expensive (obviously), but it is from a great brand that many of you have heard of before.Β πŸ‘‚

Before running out the door, I clipped on my vintage Sarah Coventry stacked hoop earrings that I purchased at an antique store recently for $3.99. Despite getting a bit fancy with the earrings, I did want to keep this look pretty casual, so I grabbed my new penny loafers from Chinese Laundry that I purchased on sale at DSW a couple weeks ago. I then slung on my gold Betsey Johnson handbag I bought at T.J. Maxx a few years back to tie the entire look together.

Sometimes it can be tricky pairing accessories or clothes from 10 seasons ago when you know they will be hard to track down again for blogging purposes. I did however find out the name of the bag (“Be Mine” Collection Rouched Xbody), and found a black version available on Amazon! 😎 You can also do a quick google search of this handbag name to find the gold version for sale from third party sellers, go take a look!

2018 has definitely seen the revival of color blocking after it had been pushed onto the backburner in recent years. So what do you all think? I can tell you this for sure: you will absolutely be seeing more of this trend from me! Mind Over Mango is just getting started!

P.S. I am completely in love with the floral wall we came across while shooting. I think I loved it just as much as I loved my outfit! 🌼🌼🌼

xoxo Sara

I’m obsessed with this color combo! Along with pink/blue combos. Also when did you buy these pants at Tjmaxx? I tried to find something similar with capris but mine didn’t have bright colors. πŸ™ Just patterns which weren’t really my style.

Hey Mindy! Thanks for your comment! I absolutely love pink/blue colors together. Especially royal blue! πŸ˜‰ As far as when I found these at T.J. Maxx, it was at the very beginning of May. They sold out fast though! They had ones that were similar but with patterns like you said. I personally liked those but wanted a solid color (because color blocking). If you check on my blog post you can see I linked where you can find the same pair of pants but in a few different colors instead. I hope this helps. Amazon has a really good variety of items of hers that you would find at TJM as well! <3

Thanks girl!!! These are my favorite pair of shoes I’d say. They go with so many things and they are really comfortable once you break them in. I’ve discovered that I love the style of penny loafers. I think I can say I am now officially obsessed! πŸ˜€ Thanks so much for checking out my blog! ❀️

Color blocking will probably ALWAYS be a trend in my book, even when if no one else is doing it anymore! πŸ˜‚ Also, same!!! I’m really holding on tight. Time is moving by so fast. Thanks for commenting Cassie!!!

Thanks Katie! These pants are amazing. They fit so beautifully and I love the colors. Adrianna Papell has some fantastic trousers that are great for color blocking! Maybe check her out. πŸ™‚ Thank you for reading and commenting!
